Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Plus Size Fashion

If you are ever lucky enough to go to Walt Disney World in the months where Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is on, go you will not regret it. For me this party was a must as Halloween is my favorite holiday of the year, I love all things spooky. This party does come as an extra cost but it is completely worth it. The party grants you access to the Magic Kingdom as you've never seen it before, small ride queue times, an exclusive firework and stage show, halloween parade, exclusive character meet and greets and the best part FREE SWEETS! A trick or treat bag is given to you when you enter and you can go to various points in the park and get free sweets and they are very generous with the amount they give you. Also because the party takes place at night it is cooler and you can dress up more and wear more glamourous makeup.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is one occasion where costumes are welcomed at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. However I did not feel comfortable wearing a costume in such heat since I am a plus size girl. So I did Halloween in a glam way, I just created a vampy makeup look, put my hair in my signature style of half up half down and wore my most glittery playsuit so I could stand out. You're in Disney World, why not sparkle?

Here are some images of me in the vampy look I created:

I thought this look would be ideal for the Halloween party as the purpley brown tones within my makeup match perfectly with the metallic silver within my playsuit. Purple/brown tones are colours I associate with halloween, most specifically vampires. For my makeup I used quite a lightweight full coverage foundation. I used the Coverage Foundation by a brand called The Ordinary. This foundation is a holy grail product for me especially when away on holiday. The foundation itself only costs £5 and has a phenomenal level of coverage. When wearing the foundation it does not feel like you are wearing anything on your face at all. To do my eyeshadow I used the Makeup Revolution New-trals vs Neturals pallette. This is also a holiday essential product for me, it costs only £6.99 and offers a large range of netural colours which is my eyeshdow colour of preference while I am away. For my highlighter I used the Makeup Revolution Ultra Cool Glow Palette. This retails for £8 and features a range of very unusal highlighter colours which give a more subtle glow but when the light hits the glow the right way it can become intense. In my opinon I wish I had brought another highlighter palette as I prefer a more extreme and intense glow to my cheeks. For my eyebrows I used the Freedom Brow Pomade, this is a dupe for the raved about Anastasia Beverley Hills DipBrow. In my opinion this product is just as good as the high end one and you can save £14 in making a purchase of the Freedom product as it retails for £5. For my eyeliner I used the Rimmel Scandal Eyes liquid liner, I'm not sure how much this retails for as my mum gave it too me. It is a very good liner but I don't think I would re-purchase as it can become quite streaky and sometimes you need to do more than one coat to make the liner look good. Finally for my lipstick I used the shade Daddy by Jeffree Star Cosmetics, this is my favourite lipstick in the world by far I wear it 98% of the time when I do my makeup. I love the formula it stays on for such a long time and does not dry out your lips as most other liquid lipsticks do. The specific shade of brown complements my skin tone and I love to wear it with casual makeup and going out makeup. This lipstick is part of the limted edition release from the Jeffree Star x Manny MUA range and retails for £16. One thing that is mising from the look that I would add if I was to recreate it, is false eyelashes. I did not want to wear eyelashes as it is very hot in Florida and I thought this would cause myself some discomfort.

It felt 100% neccesary to wear my '1st Visit!' badge with my outift as I discovered while there when its your first time it is an essential accessory to any outfit. It allows you to have great interations with characters and people are a lot nicer to you when you ask for help or directions. The playsuit I am wearing is from Yours Clothing. This is a plus size shop in the UK where you can find really nice trendy plus size pieces at a not too expensive price. You can't see in the pictures but I am wearing a pair of cropped to the knee black leggings under my playsuit. These are just black leggings I picked up from Yours Clothing also, they had a support waist band which I thought was very useful as it flattered my figure. This is just a personal preference for me. As I am plus size, shorter lengthed shorts are not the most comfortable for me as they tend to make my legs rub together. Due to the large amount of walking that is done while at Disney World it is a Disney holiday essential for me. Also not pictured are the shoes I wore, I just put on trainers as I knew we would be doing a lot of walking.

Even though I was not wearing a costume I still had an amazing time at the party, you will find a large mixture of people at the party. No one looks down on you for not wearing a costume so don't worry about that. It is amazing to look at people's costumes as some people make a large effort and it can sometimes be difficult to tell which one is the character and who is dressed up as them! I personally attended the party on Friday the 13th of October and this for me added the exact spooky vibe I wanted to have. The party itself is not scary and is 100% safe for children. The exclusive character meet and greets and fireworks were a highlight for me. I got to meet Lotso the bear from Toy Story 3 who is one of my favourite Disney characters and it was truly magical. I know what you're thinking... yes... he did smell like strawberries! The fireworks were amazing, the show was called Hallowishes and it was packed with songs from The Nightmare Before Christmas and all the Disney Villans. I adored it!!! Here are some pictures of my highlights from the party:

I had so much fun at the Halloween Party and I would go again in a heartbeat. Personally I did not vlog my experience at the party. However if you want to watch an amazing video experience of the party I would reccomend this vlog by Disney vlogger Adam Hattan. He shows many experiences in his vlog of what to get up to at the party. He also shares many hints and tips of how to maximise your time at the party to ensure you get your moneys worth. I hope this blog post allowed you to gain some advice about the Halloween party, what makeup to wear and how to dress if you are plus size.
